Journey of a coconut

The coconut is the only large seed that rides the ocean currents.Other seeds ride the wind or are carried by birds and insects to new lands.Unlike other plants, the husk of the coconut can withstand seawater. It's husk becomes water logged but holds together.Perhaps that is the reason the fibre of the husk is made into ropes and mats

On a sandy beach, the youngsters were enjoying the milk and meat of the unripe coconut fruit. The coconut tree nearby was heavy with fruits. The fruit will not fall to the ground until it ripens.people and the coconut crabs lie to eat the coconut before it ripens. The meat of the unripe fruit is more sweet and soft than that of the ripe. The ripe coconut has think, hard and hard to break meat and husk.It has used the milk to grow hard. The outer cover which was green lose moisture on ripening. It turns into think and brown husk. Thus it turns light but hard. Now, it's ready to take the journey to the unknown.

As a coconut falls,a strong wave carries it to the ocean. The currents, stronger towards the deep ocean, carries it father and farther away. One day, after many weeks, the skies darken.A strong wind blows and waves form and churn. The coconut is tossed among the giant waves. All birds have flown away due to the storm. The coconut is tosses still farther into the great ocean.

Next morning, the sky is blue over the calm ocean.the sandy beach of an unknown island welcomes the coconut. The gentle rain washes the coconut of the sea water. After a few weeks of rain, the coconut germinates of young leaves. It's roots go deeply into the soil and the tree grows.Soon a new coconut tree is born.

As the tree bears fruits,it leans to the ocean and sheds it's ripe fruit. The ocean will again carry the seed to a new home
